Steve et MarilynMarilyn and Steve

Instigators of the movement

Driven by a desire to raise awareness about the challenges facing the early childhood education and care system and to influence decision-makers, Marilyn and Steve pooled their strengths, their knowledge of the system, and their positive and infectious leadership, and quickly brought together a group of owners and managers who felt inspired by this movement. A grassroots movement was taking shape.

In a few months, several hundred non-subsidized private daycares and thousands of parents have mobilized alongside them, demanding fair fees for all families in Quebec.

They already have multiple actions to their credit, including the submission of a petition with over 32,000 names to the National Assembly of Quebec, as well as several public demonstrations and political and media interviews.

Drawing on her years of experience in the CPE network as an educator, Marilyn Gagné proudly embodies the dynamism and liveliness required to accomplish her mission as an entrepreneur and manager. She is the owner and general director of the eco-responsible alternative daycare Bulles & Boussoles, a non-subsidized private daycare with 80 spaces located in Saint-Philippe de Laprairie.

A born entrepreneur, Steve Pourciel comes from a sports background and has been involved in the educational field with rigor and passion since 2013. He is the owner and manager of Garderie du Petit Sport, a private, non-subsidized daycare with 66 spots, located in McMasterville. He possesses the courage and fighting spirit necessary to accomplish great projects.

Together, Marilyn and Steve are applying their energies to develop relevant and structured strategies that will lead Tarif Unique to achieve its objectives. They believe in the power of collaboration and the strength in numbers. They desire to contribute to the building of a united, strong, and high-quality network that can welcome all children in Quebec in a fair and equitable manner.

Notre Engagement

Our commitment

For too long, the network of early childhood educational services in Quebec has been divided. Our association was born out of a desire to build bridges and create opportunities for collaboration among all stakeholders in the field.

The way the government manages funding for various sectors directly affects the well-being of families and has an impact on the functioning and effectiveness of our entire society.

Whether it’s a matter of household financial stability or attracting and retaining educators, we face the daily challenge of making the system fair and accessible. Without equity, the state of our system deteriorates and its development is compromised, to the detriment of children and families.

Fair pricing establishes a solid foundation for every parent to choose their educational childcare service based on their needs. Because we know that early childhood educational settings play a determining role in each child's future journey, this allows families to look towards the future with confidence by investing in a shared future where every child is treated equally by the state.

We believe in a collaborative approach

Citizen Mobilization

Highlight the importance of a unified network and mobilize parents so that equity becomes a political priority again.

Community Engagement

Engage daycare owners and educators to form a united front and address the new realities surrounding wages and the various challenges facing the sector.

Monitoring and Proposals

Analyze MFA policies and propose innovative solutions to adequately fund all childcare settings.

Vrais Parents

Real parents. Real solutions.

Our association's work is guided by the conviction that access to affordable childcare is a right for every family. In every region, we champion these values to ensure that public decisions uphold equal opportunities for all children in Quebec.

Without fairness, families grow poorer. Without support, our educators leave the network. It's time for every parent, regardless of their place in childcare, to reach their full potential without an unfair financial burden.
